Traverse City, October 15th - 17th 2008

The Motherbaby International Film Festival events are here to improve the images of birth, to empower women and inspire social change. A midwife once said, "It's when we try to take control, that things get out of hand." This Festival pictures birth in the respectful hands of the Mother. From Question and Answer Sessions with the filmmakers to a grand final Gala, there are events for all ages and interests. For Children we offer special films each morning at 10am. There will be a bookstore for research and reading materials concerning home birth, holistic parenting and beyond. Come and get inspired!

Traverse City Events

Closing Night Gala: October 17th, 7pm

Local Food, wines, live music, art, booksigning and more await you at our closing night festivities at the City Opera House. This hour and a half celebration is open to midwives, moms, babes in arms and all who support our festival. Click for more details as to musicians, authors and nourishment!

There will be a complimentary screening of the Business Of Being Born for all Healthcare Professionals October 15th at 6:30 PM.

Fillmaker Panels

Children's Films

Each Morning of the Festival there will be a special children's screening - all ages welcome, under age six free. (Babes in Arms welcome at all films!)

Wild Naked Lilly Flower Image Wild Naked Ladies
This is the Naked Lady flower, symbol of our own Wild Naked Ladies. These flowers have been run over by a bulldozer, cut back by weed eaters and crowded out by blackberries - yet they thrive. They grow on a rocky scrabble of dirt without tending or cultivation - yet they give off the sweetest fragrance. These gorgeous trumpets are fiercely resistant to a gardener's tools. They stand tall, proud and free. En masse, they can take your breath away. We have met women like this. They know themselves, like who they 'be' and give birth naturally. We call them Wild Naked Ladies.
